Update Print E-mail

Whenever you're updating your system, it is important that you make a backup in case of problems. You should backup not just your database, but your files as well. Of the CCK files, you should backup the template source files if you've modified them at all. You should also backup the params.ini file if you've changed any template parameters.

# UPDATE FROM 1.5. RCx or Stable TO THE LAST STABLE RELEASE #

  • Make a backup of your template sources files (if you have made any modification ) or at least “params.ini” (if you have changed template parameters) (1)(2)
  • Download the good UPDATE PACKAGE jSeblod CCK 1.5.0 release.
  • Go to Extension Manager.
  • Browse the jSeblod CCK package, and click on “Upload File & Install”.
  • Edit all templates, select the template type (form, content or list) and save.
  • If you use fieldX field, edit each field, put in separator and save it.
  • Enjoy !

(1)Note that you can copy templates directly from Template Manager in order to save them.

(2)After new installation or update you can also choose to not use included templates but a copy. Thus template backup will not be required before any update.
For example, you can copy “default_form” to “my_default_form” and use it. (and do the same for all)

    # UPDATE FROM 1.2.5 TO 1.5.0 #

The new 1.5.0 release is a major version, that’s why the update from 1.2.5 release is not the easiest thing ever seen. For those who need to update, here is the process.
For those who have a complete & achieved website which works well with 1.2.5 version, this update is maybe not required and we may suggest you to keep it like that.
    • Make a backup of your website (files + database). (IMPORTANT !)
    • Download latest jSeblod CCK 1.5.0 release.
    • Download “CCK Update [1.2.5 to 1.5.0].zip”. (here)
    • Extract “CCK Update [1.2.5 to 1.5.0].zip”.
    • Upload & overwrite folders/files on your server (where jSeblod 1.2.5 is installed).
    • Go to jSeblod CCK / Content Type Manager on your joomla administration.
    • You are going to export Templates, Content Types, & Fields:
o Check the Content Type you want to export (we suggest you to export them one by one)
o Then go at the bottom of the page: “Export Types”.
o Select “With Fields & Templates” if it’s not, and write a Title. Then click on Export
o The CCK Pack contains now the selected Content Type with assigned Fields and assigned Templates.
o Do it again with other Content Types (3).
o If there are some Templates or some Fields not assigned with Content Type, go to Template Manager or Field Manager and export them separatly.
    • Go to jSeblod Templates Manager, and remember any views assigned to your Templates cause Template Site Views can’t be exported.
    • Uninstall jSeblod CCK (component), uninstall Extended Quick Icons (module), uninstall Extended Admin Menu (module).
    • Go to Extension Manager.
    • Browse the jSeblod CCK 1.5.0 package, and click on “Upload File & Install”.
    • Empty your browser (Firefox, Opera, IE…) cache.
    • Go to jSeblod CCK / Pack Manager
    • On the right side, click on “Update Existing”
    • Browse your CCK Pack, and click on “Import”. (Repeat n time(s) for any pack) (4)
    • Go to Template Manager.
    • Edit any template you need in order to re-assign Site Views.
    • Go to Type Manager.
    • Edit any content type you need in order to assign in “Content” tab field you want to be displayed within article/content on front-end.
    • Enjoy !

(3)Portfolio is already included in CCK 1.5.0.RC3. Accordion will be included in 1.5.0.RC4. Curriculum Vitae & Recipe CCKPacks will come soon on ww.jSeblod-CCK.com.

(4)If you get an error, and are not able to import a specific content type with assigned template & assigned fields, one way could be:

    • Extract the template source folder from the pack.
    • Make a zip package.
    • Go to Template Manager.
    • Click on “New” button, and browse from Package Upload your template package.
    • Save
    • You template has just been uploaded with success, the content type & fields created. Your content is back and available on the front-end.

If you have problem to update jSeblod CCK try this:

    • Try to update again jSeblod CCK with update archive file
    • or Update jSeblod CCK from the Joomla tmp directory (follow instructions described in "alternative install method " (but by using update archive) at the end of this document http://www.jseblod-cck.com/documentation/install.html)
